One of the most exciting parts about Spanish class is learning about different cultures around the world! El día de los muertos is a holiday that is celebrated in many different Spanish speaking countries. This holiday celebrates the lives of lost loved ones. For this project, students will commemorate the life of a person who has passed away (either a personal connection or someone from history) by creating a sugar skull mask in his/her image. They will spend time thinking about how to visually represent his/her likes, talents and/or contributions through this mask. We will then display the masks in the classroom to help celebrate El día de los muertos.
