Because we lack textbooks, I fear my students will be at a disadvantage in their college science classes where they will be expected to learn by reading textbooks. It is my goal to prepare them for this kind of reading to learn at a university or college. My students have enjoyed the Astrophysics portions of my class, and I hope to use Astrophysics for Young People in a Hurry as approachable and engaging scientific reading through which we can learn about many topics in Physics. My classroom does not currently have textbooks as this is beyond the budget for my school. At our high school we are committed to literacy and numeracy in all classes. Funding this project will give my students access to engaging information and reading material that they have not been exposed to.
