English Learners will be able to get their hands dirty while learning science vocabulary and concepts related to plants and gardening. They will germinate seeds indoors and then transplant small plants into outdoor vegetable beds, while using the scientific process to document the growth of their vegetable plants. Students will get to eat the vegetables that they grow, tasting new foods and learning about their health benefits. Anyone can garden, no matter how much English they speak! Beginner English Learners will be able to participate in learning in a way that they feel comfortable and take the lead in this special classroom project, instead of relying on their classmates for academic language support.
