Students will use these two book sets to make connections with the world around them, both past and present! Boy In The Striped Pajamas will fit perfectly into our WW2 and Holocaust unit and blend seamlessly with our study about human rights and how not to repeat the world's past mistakes. Uglies will help me teach the students to love themselves despite what society tells them they have to look like. I plan to create engaging and challenging units for both of these texts to teach them in a way that my students will forget that they're learning 5th grade standards. These books have been chosen because they meet TN state standards and qualitative and quantitative measures.

About my class
