Writing Cafe Have you ever thought of your favorite places to read and write? Are you most creative and able to think when you are relaxed, able to move, or at a desk which you have been assigned to sit for long periods of time? Many companies are finding through research that people are more productive when they are given an environment in which they are comfortable. In reading and writing, I have tried to incorporate a variety of classroom settings including the traditional desks, the outdoors, using bean bags and beach chairs, and making a variety of crate benches in hope to encourage students to continue these practices anywhere they go in life. I am teaching 6th grade writing this 2019-2020 school year and would like to incorporate more flexible seating with tables and chairs vs. desks, design my classroom to support student creativity and critical thinking. My desire from this project is to acquire a variety of optional seating for students to choose from in order to provide a more productive learning environment.
