The materials chosen will give my students choices to learn and understand the important building blocks needed to build their individual skills needed to reach their goals. It is so important that the students are able to physically touch letters and build words. My goal is to have my 1st graders reading and comprehending on or above their intended level. The different organized activities will reinforce the practice needed to become excellent readers. This gives them an added edge to use their sense of touch or hands on experience and repetition to maximize their learning experience. As a first year teacher, I feel the more hands on activities used in the classroom the more opportunities the student has to use their knowledge to build on and be successful.
