I am a third grade teacher with anywhere from 24 to 26 students every year. This is my first year teaching third grade and I am so excited for the opportunity! I taught 5th grade last year and I learned so much from my students. I am only in my second year of teaching and most of my things are hand me downs. I am so appreciative of everything people have given me and my classroom. After getting my feet wet I now know exactly what I need to make my third graders successful this year. I want my students to feel like they have the freedom to just be kids in my classroom. I want them to know it's okay to have a lot of energy and to need accommodations to regulate that. Adaptive seating like the kind I have listed here has been proven to help students focus better, expel their energy appropriately and is an excellent incentive for meeting The Three R's (respect, responsible and ready to learn). I have seen it work first hand in some other classrooms at my school. The carpet is perfect for our morning meetings and read aloud. I want my students to have a place to come together as a whole group where they can be comfortable and as of right now I do not have any place for that.
