The noise-canceling headphones that I am requesting will support our students that may demonstrate symptoms of sensory processing disorder. These students can be easily overstimulated and overwhelmed leading to avoidance and irritability. Two weeks ago we hosted our beginning of year school kickoff in the gymnasium. Some students had to be escorted out of the celebration because it was overstimulating and they were becoming irritable. The few students that did have noise-canceling headphones they were able to remain at the kickoff without any difficulty. We desperately want all students to be able to comfortably participate in future programs!
