This third grade class is very unique and is bursting at the seams with potential. It is up to us to create the opportunities that will allow them to explore their potential and turn it into a strong foundation so one day their successes will contribute to the progress of their communities, nation and world. The children in this third grade class face many challenges outside the classroom. Currently, 93% of the student body lives under the poverty line and about 1/10 of those students are facing homelessness. Financial turmoil, substance abuse and lack of stability are present in the majority of these students lives, yet they come to school everyday eager to grow and hungry for knowledge. We have some heavy lifting to do. As long as we acknowledge where they are now, where they need to be and the best way to get each INDIVIDUAL there, we will succeed. The materials you donate to our classroom will only make the lift a lot lighter.
