Promoting literacy in the classroom in a fun and engaging way is crucial in helping students to develop a passion for reading. Kindergarten is an amazing time of exploration, curiosity, and eagerness to learn for children. My mission is to create a library space that contains a variety of reading materials and a welcoming learning environment so that students will feel compelled to cozy up with a good book and practice their reading strategies. The flexibility of their seating arrangements will also allow students to take charge of their own learning and teach them to make choices that best suit their needs. I hope that having this experience in our classroom will inspire them to find their own little spaces at home where they can read every night. It doesn't have to be at a desk or table to be effective.
