Today students must not only be able to solve a math problem but also be able to explain their reasoning behind the answer. Many students struggle with this task and an effective way to overcome the hurdles is to have students work in small groups. Paper and markers will allow students to work through the reasoning in a fun, engaging, and creative way. In addition, the materials will be used to create student-made anchor chart, which will serve as a reference for other students. Students love to be the author of a reference poster that the teacher uses in instruction. Science often overlaps with math, and the materials will be used in a similar manner.
