We are from Minnesota. We serve recently arrived immigrant and refugee students. We are fortunate enough to have a school that represents many parts of the world. My students are from Laos, Bhutan, Haiti, Vietnam, Yemen, Ecuador, Guatemala, Somalia, Ethiopia, Togo, Oromia, Djibouti, Kenya, Honduras, Mexico and Syria. Not only are they attending high school to learn content to become a successful adult but they are doing it in a new language which they are learning simultaneously. They are excited learners who deserve the necessary resources to help them learn English.
