My students will use these board games weekly to reinforce skills taught such as basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division facts. Repetition and teaching to different learning styles is very important for my students. Currently we mostly have outdated board games in my classroom that are worn out. STEM related mathematical board games are more appealing and interesting to my students. "Pet Me" board game for multiplication and division makes math social, has many hands on pieces that represent real life objects, and is praised for even boosting beginner's division skills. "Learning Resources Sum Swamp Game" has won 6 awards and helps practice basic math fluency. "Race to Planet X" is another STEM board game that has a 5 star rating. Fractions can be very difficult to understand without examples and "Learning Resources Magnetic Pizza Fractions" helps kids understand fractions through real-life context. My students love magnetic tiles during free time and break times. Magnetic tiles foster creativity, higher level thinking and encourage three dimensional building. My students will be able to reach their goals, love learning and succeed with these STEM board games! Not only is this screen-free learning but it will build and increase social skills within my small groups of students.
