My students are something special. We come from a low economic community where over 60% of our students are on free or reduced-price lunches. The amazing thing about my students is that they face many types of struggles out of school, yet they show up every day with a smile on their face and determination in their heart to give their very best in class. My students become family. They hurt together, rejoice together, struggle together, and have victories together. I truly believe that is what separates them from any other class. Some of them face so many unbelievable heartaches throughout the year, yet the show up every day. They show up with more grit and passion to better themselves than many adults I know.
