In my role, I work with students who are struggling in the classroom and at the school. These students are often acting out in inappropriate ways, and need avenues open to them for calming down. These students need more than the traditional classroom discipline system entails, and that includes thinking outside the norm. To these struggling students, having a safe space where they can fidget, build, or color can help deescalate their behaviors and get them back in class. Many of these "toys" are also a means to getting students to work together. Building structures together can increase their communication skills as well! There are many benefits to having these assortment of resources available.
