My students need to be actively engaged during the day, not just sitting taking notes, discussing, and turning in assignments. That is why I want to have a tablet in the classroom! A tablet can connect to our projector and students can learn the perks of working together to win games, follow directions, actively move throughout the room, that is much more difficult to do with a stationary computer in the corner of the room. Through the use of Splashtop on a tablet, students will actively be able to track and monitor their progress through Daily 5 and fluency monitoring apps! I will be using the tablet to project powerpoint presentations and taking notes, walking around making sure that students are taking notes in their interactive notebooks, while I am taking notes on the tablet instead of standing up on the board. Analyzing videos and writing samples in small group will help students stay focused, and also tracking students learning digitally and efficiently so that students can see their results instantly.
