My project will help provide snacks to students before practice that participate in marching band. This school is in the heart of Atlanta, in a high crime and poverty-stricken area; statistics say the students who live in this area won't be successful or make it to college. These students work hard in their classes and take the art of music seriously. Unfortunately, some of these students experience food insecurities and are often hungry upon coming to school and often starving by the end of the day. The only time some of these kids eat is during lunch, or if the school offers free breakfast. These students are staying after school for band practice and won't eat until they get home or not at all until they return to school. There are no vending machines available to even purchase a snack. If this project is funded it would enable us to give snacks to the students to fuel them with the energy they need to practice successfully and when they express that they're hungry as well.
