I rely on personal whiteboards in my class in several ways. On a daily basis, I use them to check answers to bellwork (and gauge my students' understanding); I also use them for exploratory activities in which students can jot down their thoughts, work out problems, and collaborate with peers. These exploratory activities and discussions are a central tenant of my teaching style. I also use them during review games and other fun activities that engage students. The whiteboards I am seeking to purchase are double-sided; one side is blank, while the other contains a coordinate grid, which is tremendously beneficial in teaching mathematics! I cannot overstate the value and convenience that these whiteboards contribute to my pedagogy. I employ such boards currently, but they are badly beaten and worn, and desperately need to be replaced. I am requesting a total of 54 boards (a set of 30 and a set of 24) because I often have classes of over 30 students (including one time when I had an AP class of 42), and because I want to be able to quickly and easily replace any boards that get damaged. The new boards I am requesting are durable, and will be able to benefit students for years to come! Lastly, my request also includes two sets of dry-erase markers. Students use these markers every day in every class period; as such, they dry out fairly quickly, and frequently need to be replaced. Having two class sets' worth of markers on-hand enables me to quickly replace dry markers without interrupting the learning process.
