This is my first year as a yearbook advisor and I would love to give my students something they haven't been able to have access to before. In my class, students design a complete yearbook from start to finish. Our school has a color printer in the library, but the students would have to pay for every color page printed out of pocket since we don't have the budget to pay for printing. Students need to be able to review and revise their work effectively so that they can improve the quality of their production, and a high quality color printer can help up achieve that. Students need to be able to print in color so that they can clearly see the quality of the images and designs they have selected. In addition, some color/font combinations look fine on a computer but do not look fine when printed. When printing in color students will be able to see how their pages will look in the actual yearbook. Here we can discuss how design elements play well together or how they can be improved with our revision process. My goal in yearbook is for every student to be proud of the work that they have created. Thorough a strong revision and proofing process we can build a yearbook that every student is proud to own.
