Kindergarten kids cannot read directions at learning stations but......with iPads and having the OSMO KITS, the directions are read to them and the learning comes to life! It is like having 2 extra teachers in the classroom and it can reach more students with learning skills. In OSMO the game tells them the sight word SEE and then they have to find the tiles and build the word and score the points. It gives them a picture of an object then they have to use the tiles to figure out the word. It tells them the letter and the sound as they move it. We also use iPads for our reading/math series. The kids can sign in with their simplified username and password and reading and math come to life and become interactive for their specific reading level. They are so excited to use the iPads because the story can be read to them word by word and it highlights the word, then has them find and locate the word. We need iPads they are excited about them and they help maintain focus while learning at the same time! They help kids who have special needs. Without iPads and specific learning games for those iPads we send students to learning stations where students get off task because they cannot read the directions. The programs for the iPads read the learning instructions or skill to the student, some even show them how to do it! Technology is the focus for the future and I want to have as much as I can for my students to help with their learning.
