My students all have very unique learning styles and strengths and are working on developing skills in their learning such as making connections, associations, conceptualizing things, generalizing concepts, and the way in which their brains process visual and auditory information. They are also learning to develop their social skills, coping skills, and self-regulation strategies. These materials will make a difference in the learning of my students by creating a flexible, creative, comfortable and dynamic learning space and environment such as with the utility crates to store and organize their materials and also use to sit on in more natural ways. The Kimochi's will help them in developing social skills, coping skills, and self-regulatory strategies by increasing awareness of their social-emotional development. These resources, such as the dry-erase clip boards and storage cart, will also give them access to strategies that will tap into all of their senses and make for multi-sensory learning as well as help them organize their materials and have more agency over their learning. When my kids are learning, it's not just about WHAT they are learning but it is important for me to know HOW they learn best, because in order for students to learn, they should feel comfortable and use all of their senses. So, through this project I hope to give them access to tools and spaces that match their learning styles and allow for multiple learning modalities, as well as an interactive experience with the content such as through the projector and maps.
