Our school is located in a high poverty area. The children have led very sheltered lives. They are mainly immigrants or the children of immigrants. Most of the children are English Language Learners. They are excited about coming to school, but because they are still learning English, many things are difficult for them to understand. Art is an excellent resource to use to enhance their learning experience. Not only do the children have an opportunity to do something new and different, but they also learn better when they are able to make direct connections to topics they are studying.

About my class
