We are hoping to build on the innovation we have in this classroom by adding an Elmo Document Camera to the mix. According to the Teachers College at Columbia University, it has been proven that students who see their teacher writing just three or four sentences, are motivated to compliment that with their own writing! Furthermore, sharing other student work, classroom examples, guided reading books and more underneath a document camera, can help students who need large print and can build our overall use of technology in the classroom! Please help us with this project and help make room 42 a better learning environment! The goal of implementing an Elmo in our classroom is specific. First, students will have access to digital enhancements of lessons. That is, material can be presented to them directly, visually and authentically. This eliminates the need for power points, which is proven time and time again to be rigid, confusing and something students don't connect or attach to. With an Elmo document camera, students can access the visual needs of their learning process in real-time as the lesson is taking place, and the teacher can connect to them instantly! I will have the ability to move from one part of my lesson to another with a seamless transition, something that can occasionally be clunky in a classroom without this technology! Essentially, I want learning in my classroom to be personalized, and I want to be able to connect with kids in every piece of our time together. The ability to place student work under a doc cam and celebrate their success immediately as a class, is truly something that is priceless.
