Our public school site is located in the heart of the diverse Phillips Neighborhood; an urban community located south of downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota. The state demographic report lists 95.7% of our students qualifying for free/reduced lunch, 56.9% receiving ELL Service, and 5.6% Homeless/Highly Mobile. Our 2018 racial demographics consist of 54.3% Hispanic, 36.1% Black (Not Hispanic), 2.8% American Indian, 1.2% Asian Pacific Islander,1.3% Two/More Races and 4.3% White students. Demographics never can convey how the power of the human spirit triumphs! When students take actionable steps supporting their own dreams and reading growth, a new mindset and self-efficacy is born. Please consider funding this project, so my striving readers can join in the monthly excitement of ACTION's online/paper magazine. Anticipate with me that they'll discover the joy and practical assets of reading, as a lifetime benefit.
