My students have difficulty sitting still for long periods of time. They currently sit in traditional flat four legged chairs and only have recess twice a day for 15 and 10 minute intervals(I know, it's definitely not enough time!). I have been trying to update our library by buying comfortable chairs and rugs that they can relax and read in, but now I would love to make the whole class more inviting, engaging, and more comfortable. After all, my students are with me for 6 hours a day. I believe the more relaxed a student is, the better they will work on assignments. Flexible seating will allow them to get their wiggles out and ultimately create a safe and comfortable environment where they can strive for more academic excellence. Flexible seating is the new and upcoming way to arrange classrooms to create an enriched learning environment for students by giving them options for their seating assignment each day. This flexible seating will also allow better engagement for think/pair/share learning, group assignments, and make independent time much more comfortable. Students thrive when they enjoy and look forward to class, and this seating arrangement will increase that feeling!
