The Pandemic Board Game allows my students to collaborate with their peers and connect to the content we learn in class. In the previous school year, my students learned online and had few social interactions with their peers. This collaborative board game aims to help students practice working with their peers in a fun, low-risk environment. If you have not played a cooperative board game before, the players are all on the same team and need to work together to succeed against the competition strategically. Win or lose, and there are lessons to be learned. It is also my goal for students to connect the game and the spread of infectious diseases. As a part of the new Intro to Health Occupations elective class at Waldo Middle School, students learn, research, and education each other about different infectious diseases. As simple as it may seem, I believe this will be an experience my students will remember for the rest of their lives.
