Diversity is important because our world is changing all the time. We have the opportunity to teach our students love and acceptance now. Chances are, by the time my students reach the real world it will be a much more diverse place than it is now and we need to prepare them for that. These materials will be used in our dramatic play area where children are encouraged to put themselves in someone else's shoes. This role-playing helps them to improve their ability to do this in real life. They learn important social skills, such as empathy and language development.
