Flexible seating in kindergarten allows students to make the choices that work best for them. Kindergarten students are not used to sitting still at tables and desks all day, they need to be able to wiggle and be comfortable when they are learning. During independent work times the students will choose a location in the classroom that works for them. Making sure students are comfortable is essential in their learning process. Students are more engaged when they have choices in their learning. They also seem to be better behaved and are able to focus on their assignments when they are given a choice of where to work. The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The floor seats and the beanbag chairs will allow for additional comfortable floor seating options. The different tables at adjustable heights will be a great addition to the classroom for those students who want to be on the floor but still need space to work. The tall tables will be great for the students who want to stand and work. I have seen how choice can positively affect students work in other classrooms. I hope by transforming my room with these additional options, my students will be able to experience the same success!
