A well-gardened library will produce a classroom of successful students. It is so imperative that our classroom gets a healthy start on a volume rich library. This project is requesting a Leveled Books Classroom Library 2 and Help-Yourself Book Bins that will be used to store each student's books. Our school has no librarian and as a result our students' reading levels and skills have greatly suffered. I believe that by implementing research based literary programs, such as "The Daily Five," along with a plethora of multi-genre leveled books, my students will develop a love of reading and achieve academically. To ensure that my class will benefit from incorporating "The Daily Five", I will place slightly above level books in each student's book box. I will also add more books that appeal to my students' interest by borrowing books from my local libraries. I will implement different strategies such as "I Read You Read", "Read to Self". Furthermore, I will add a variety of comprehension thinking skill questions to their boxes. I will monitor each student to ensure that everyone is adhering to the reading skills that are assigned. I will set reasonable reading goals based on their current reading levels. I will monitor their reading goals by assessing each student weekly by continually implementing IREAD and SRI assessments. I will implement a reward system for all students who reach their goals. Great Readers will harvest endless opportunities. This library will cause their minds to open to so many positive possibilities. In order for a great harvest to occur, our classroom needs to be planted with knowledge and cultivated with skill.
