Students learn the best when provided a confortable, welcoming, and inviting environment. Our current rug is not quite big enough to fit all of our growing first graders. This is a central location where students gather for morning and afternoon meetings, read alouds, group activities, shared reading, and as a general means of building classroom community. It is centrally located in the classroom, because it serves as the heart of our classroom. Due to its durable material it will stand the test of time and be a sanitary alternative to a standard fabric rug. This supply would benefit the class as a whole and provide for all my future learners. I can picture the friendships, bonds, and imagination that will take place on this rug for years to come.
