It's 2019 and gone are the days where society and those therein don't rely on technology. The six requested Chromebooks will make an extreme and longing impact as they will be used not only with my current students but also those to come. The Chromebooks will be used to ensure that my students engage in the learning targets in a way that is meaningful, engaging, and proven to have a positive correlation on their academic success. I plan to use the Chromebooks across content areas. In English Language Arts, the Chromebooks will be used for typing out their writing, conducting research, creating presentations, and even accessing online reading materials. For mathematics, I plan to use the Chromebooks to promote mathematical fluency, such as being able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in a matter of seconds. Moreover, we will also utilize the Chromebooks to engage in activities that directly relate to the learning material because let's face it - gone are the days where we expect students to prove what they've learned on a worksheet. For Science & Social Studies, I plan to take virtual field trips as well as allowing the children to learn to navigate through the web by engaging in internet, kid-friendly, and obviously, learning-related, scavenger hunts. Technology in the classroom is all the more important for our school district at this time, because of the end of year standardized test called the Georgia Milestones. This test is taken on the computer and students will be expected to have these computer skills. 3rd graders are required to pass. The continued use of the Chromebooks would create a sense of confidence for the students.
