I have noticed that when I read a book out loud to my students, that book becomes their new favorite. Children of all reading abilities will read that book over and over again. Our wish list includes books about kindness, Caldecott winners and proven best sellers. My plan is to use these gift books in just that way. Reading the books each child is given out loud to the class, will give each child a love for the new books he or she has chosen. Their new books will be read over and over again...to each other, to parents, siblings, and family pets.
