Students will have the opportunity to read this book that many have a strong personal connection with. This book highlights the trauma that they have suffered through that they would otherwise hide from everyone. This will allow for strong discussions, connections between classmates, and emphasis on empathy. This book will allow students to make strong personal connections to their reading and writing skills. Because there are so many deficiencies in my students' learning, these books will help them to be able to make the personal connections necessary to help fill those reading gaps. This book will allow for me to show these students that in my classroom, all lives matter and all voices are always heard.
