Teaching "I am Malala" through the lens of multicultural education teaches students to acknowledge, embrace, and respect difference. I also want to show my students how to respectfully debate and discuss socially relevant subjects. Malala demonstrates how students can define their own success by their actions and values. The globe will help students understand multicultural concerns and how Pakistan is connected to the world in which they live. Malala's Magic Pencil and the two stories of bravery provide engaging opportunities to immerse all students in discussion about different cultures. I plan to use a variety of teaching materials and strategies to motivate my students.
