I believe every child has the capacity to learn no matter the disability. We have a high number of students with sensory processing disorders. Our students require many breaks throughout the day in order to self regulate. Integrating sensory activities and exercise therapy helps improve their sensory processing skills, which allows for better focus during the school day. A trampoline will help the children release much needed energy and lead to a more relaxed child afterward. Massagers, rollers, vibrating pillows and bean bags will help the students that suffer from deep pressure stimulation. Deep pressure stimulation is a quick and effective way to calm a child who is on sensory overload. With the right tools I hope to ease each child's struggles and give them the chance to learn how to help regulate their needs and in return lead to a happy child ready to learn.
