How many times do we tell kids what they can't do? Wouldn't it be great to say: "Yes you can!" ? This is the idea behind providing flexible seating and sensory outlets like bouncy bands. We give students choice and allow them to decide what works best as learners. Propped up with a book on a comfy seat, stretched out on the carpet, or happily kicking a silent bouncy band, we give kids the power to be their best selves. Best of all, we honor students as individuals and empower them to make choices which help them succeed. Comfy seats will be used primarily in reading, while bouncy bands will be used throughout the day and across subjects. It is amazing what a difference these seemingly small adjustments can make in both learning outcomes and self esteem.
