Help me give access to a diverse classroom library! I have put together a collection of diverse books for my 1st graders including some noise cancelling muffs to help students stay focused during reading! I recently switched grade levels after teaching 4th and 5th grade for a number of years. Unfortunately, not many of my books are able to transfer over from 4/5 to emerging readers in 1st grade. Something that is important to both my students and I are an interest in diversity. Many of the books that remained in the classroom lack the images of people that represent narratives and people from all over the world. I want to make sure that my student's see themselves, their classmates, and their neighbors in the books they read and learn from. By fulfilling my project, your allowing my 1st graders to peek into the lives of people from all over the world as well as feeling like they belong. Thank you!
