Our goal is to create a culture of reading by introducing and continuing Series Reading across the grade levels at our school! When students read a series, they increase their comprehension and fluency, increase reading time, and deepen their connection with the book's characters. On Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:45 am to 8:15 am, you can see students at our school walking the halls to check out books and waiting patiently to get the next book in their preferred series. Students have a variety of choices from Pete the Cat, to Elephant and Piggie, to Captain Underpants, to I Survived, as well as nonfiction selections from National Geographic. Expanding the Series Reading program is a continuing goal for our school. We want to get as many book series as we can in the hands of our students! It's been very exciting to see the students checking out books they want to read. We want to continue building on this enthusiasm in the future and celebrate reading.
