In addition to the basic functions of a calculator, graphing calculators provide many opportunities for students such as manipulating data and providing visuals of graphs and transformations. Graphing calculators are necessary tools that students need to be able to utilize in order to achieve high scores on their classroom-based assessments, as well as, state-required exams. Students come to the high school with a variety of different skill levels. The calculators provide individuals with lower skill levels the ability to meet higher level goals and expectations. For students who are performing at a higher skill level, the calculators can enhance and enrich mathematical knowledge and understanding.
