My art room was equipped with some basic white copy paper, golf pencils, and broken crayons when I stepped into my role five weeks ago. I want to give my students a beautiful art room with lots of beautiful crayons and paint and strong thick paper to engage them and help them access their creative abilities. They are wonderful children who keep asking where to put their wobbly papers to dry and if I have colored pencils or sharpie markers. These students deserve to use quality paint brushes and Crayola paints on paper that will not crumple under a bit of water. The older grades would love to use sharpie markers to go over their pencil lines on our drawing from observation long-term and short-term projects.
