Our classroom layout is designed for multiple collaborative groupings as well as whole group "family" discussions. Being able to gather in different cozy areas in our room will make learning more interesting and comfortable to 4th graders with a variety of special needs including those with ADHD/ADD, learning disabilities and Anxiety. For many of my students, they are in my classroom before school, during lunch and recesses because it is like a second home to them where they feel safe. I want our classroom to have the cozy feel a home has. This, in turn, will lower my students' anxiety and give them more space to move and spread out.
