Please help my students gain access to a variety of mentor texts for their narrative writing unit! Mentor texts are any text that can be used as an example of great writing. My students love listening to me read books aloud to them throughout the year. But, when I read aloud a mentor text I can actually show them what techniques the author used to make their writing better. After we read, we can work together to try to use the same techniques in our own writing! These mentor texts will help my students see real examples of exceptional writing, improve their writing techniques, increase their comprehension of fiction texts, and help foster a love of reading.
