Grade 4 students will have an opportunity to experience life in 17th Century Maryland. Students will participate in the Maryland History Highlights Tour. On this guided tour students will examine the economy, religion, and culture of early Maryland colonial life with engaging hands-on activities. Build vocabulary by analyzing contracts for indentured servants and more at the Yaocomaco Woodland Indian Hamlet and the Spray Plantation. At the Waterfront and Town Center, students will investigate important documents and objects that illustrate the law, government, and society of St. Mary’s City. Students will also have lunch outdoors overlooking the beautiful St. Mary's River. This field trip provides an opportunity to bring the Social Studies curriculum to life for my students. Students will be able to make real-world connections and engage with historical artifacts in a meaningful way.
