My students are 7th graders who struggle with math. They learn best by doing - being actively involved in the process. Sitting still and doing worksheets is very hard for them. Our school is a Title I school. These are students who need hands-on, concrete activities to reinforce the standards they are expected to learn. My classes have a STEM theme. They are student-driven, inquiry-based, and promote creativity.
