Picture your favorite book. You may have any number of reasons why that book is your favorite, but some of them probably include connection to the characters in the story and valuable lessons learned. My goal for this project is to enrich my classroom library with not only books that teach vital social-emotional and coping skills, but with books that boast diverse characters representative of the cultures, home lives, and experiences of my students. By purchasing a book for my classroom, you are not only helping to increase my students' academic engagement and achievement, but you are helping me to prepare them for life outside the walls of my classroom. These books will assist me in providing my students with the necessary tools to process difficult emotions and boost their confidence in their cultural identities.
