My classroom needs a comfortable learning environment that is calm and inviting. This is especially important when talking about emotions, self control, coping skills, and other difficult topics. Students that will use this area, need a setting that promotes calmness, provides comfort, and reduces stress. It is often uncomfortable discussing tough topics. Having an area that promotes a calm and inviting environment will allow students an area that feels “safer” and more inviting when these lessons are presented. Many of the students that will benefit from this area have high ACE scores. Flexible seating offers students to choose where they sit and feel more at ease.
