At my school, we currently only teach using excerpts from books and printed articles for units with no common thread connecting them. We will use "The House on Mango Street" by Sandra Cisneros in a book study to be exposed to what it feels like to start and complete a full novel. This is a skill they WILL need going forward and I aim to prove to my school that a novel study can work to teach students the same skills they wish, while engaging them in new and interactive ways. Your donations and these books are essential for our goal!
