Our North Texas school district has a program that has been designed to support science learning inside (and outside) of the classroom with the wonder of live animals. It is part of our credo at the Center that you cannot teach a student without first engaging their attention, and never are children more engaged that when you show them an animal. Our instructors and teachers have seen these animals inspire non-verbal students to speak, ADHD students to engage with and participate in lessons, and high school seniors to make connections and seek to excitedly share their learning. A new cart and play yard will help facilitate more visits to classrooms, allowing further learning through animal interaction.
