These donations will build our classroom library. It will also expose my students to quality literature that will help my students become critical readers, critical thinkers and problem solvers, and critical writers. Most importantly they will gain a joy for reading. The majority of the donations are quality mentor texts . The mentor texts that I am requesting will help me teach reading and writing through authentic texts. As we begin our Writer's Workshop, we will infuse the mentor text to help us learn what a good reader and a good writer does. These mentor texts will captivate the little readers and writers in my classroom. My hope is to for my students be life long learners. We can't replace great books with technology. There's a whole world of imagination, hope, determination, growth mindset, kindness that only books can teach us.
