My students are so excited about their reading. The only thing slowing down their reading progress is the lack of leveled readers in my classroom. They come to me for guided reading instruction where we use a classroom set of readers that go along with our reading curriculum. I would like to create a reading center for the students to be able to go and self select a book on their reading level to build their reading confidence. For a lot of students the only thing holding them back from excelling is the confidence in their reading. My students will learn the reading strategies with me during our guided reading groups and then the goal is for them to be able to go to the reading center later in the week to practice the strategies they have learned. I believe that being able to incorporate a classroom library with leveled readers will allow my students reading abilities to blossom. They will get the chance to build their confidence as well as practice their reading strategies to ultimately build their reading fluency and comprehension using these books.
